A decade ago, remote work was uncommon in
general and restricted to international MNCs. Working at home was normally
only possible on a case-by-case basis to meet the needs of individual
households. Teleconferencing and telework technologies, on the other hand, have
progressed to the extent that certain companies will now operate with entirely
distributed teams. It's not unusual for companies to encourage their workers to
work from home once or twice a week.
