My Favorite Movie Marathons: Part 1

Whether you like to run movie marathons with your friends and family or all by yourself, there are certain classics (series) that deserve this kind of madness. For me personally, binge-watching, in one continuous sitting, is the best way to watch movies. There’s something about diving into the cinematic world and living it together with my favorite characters until the very end. Over the years, I have liked, loved (and hated) various movie series. Here are some of my favorite movie marathons.

Banana: The Golden (Yellow) Fruit

As an instant energy booster, bananas are one of the most consumed fruits across the globe. Although varying in color, size, and shape; bananas contain a fair amount of fiber, as well as several antioxidants. From helping lower blood pressure to reducing the risks of cancer and asthma, bananas are known to have a plethora of health benefits (more on this later). Today, bananas are grown in over 100 countries and are ranked 4th among the world’s food crops in monetary value. This article summarizes the potential health benefits of bananas, along with the possible health risks associated with them.

Momos: The Perfect Snack

Although Tibetan in origin, momos are by far the most-eaten snacks in Delhi. We are obsessed with momos. In fact, I love momos so much, I could probably write poems on them! These bite-sized wonders are all you need to satiate those odd-hour hunger pangs or random binge eating. From steamed, to fried, tandoori, or baked, with possibly any stuffing you can imagine, there are plenty of places serving these bundles of joy. Here’s a list of some of my favorite places serving momos.

Green Tea: An Acquired Taste

It may surprise you to learn that green tea and black tea originate from the same exact plant species, the Camellia sinensis. Essentially it is the variety of tea plants and how the tea leaves are processed that define how green tea becomes green and black tea becomes black.

Typically a brewed green tea is either green, yellow, or light brown in color, and its flavor ranges from grass-like and toasted to vegetal, sweet, and seaweed-like. If brewed correctly, most green teas are quite light in color and only mildly astringent.

Animal Shelters: The Need Of The Hour

Animal welfare is just as important as human welfare. Even though animal welfare is yet to become a global phenomenon, it is gaining importance in India at a rapid pace. It’s common to hear heartwarming stories of rescue operations and random acts of kindness. With proper awareness, people are now more involved in helping raise the living standards and status of all animals. Volunteers, NGOs, and organizations alike, are working relentlessly to create a better, happier environment for them. There is a monumental increase in donations being made for the cause.

Demystifying The Detox Diet

Oprah Winfrey and BeyoncĂ© Knowles recommend juice detoxing. Kim Kardashian West and her sister, Khloe are ardent supporters of the tea-tox or detoxing using teas. In India, Jacqueline Fernandez is an investor and supporter of a company offering a variety of detoxes. Detoxing is all the rage these days! With support from celebrities, who have a high fan following and influence globally, detoxing, in its various forms, is becoming more and more popular.

For The Love Of Cappuccino

We love our coffee, don’t we? A hot cup of cappuccino is my all-time favorite for sure. Did you know that cappuccino is actually a delectable work of art and is amongst the favorite beverages all around the world? Even though it is typically smaller in volume than a caffè latte, it has a thicker layer of microfoam. Cappuccino is considered the richest of all types of coffee types and hence uses cream instead of milk as the primary ingredient along with double espresso and steamed milk foam. Variations often include flavoring with cinnamon or chocolate powder.

Probiotics: Do You Actually Need Them? Let’s Understand

We eat. We digest. How properly is the question! Digestive health has been a concern for doctors and patients alike globally. Probiotic bacteria, popularly known as probiotics, are good gut bacteria that help regulate our digestion. Probiotics are found in the digestive tract and aid proper digestion and absorption and boost immunity, unlike disease-causing micro-organisms. Probiotic bacteria release enzymes that help in food digestion. This, in turn, prevents gut-related diseases and complications from antibiotics.

United Coffee House: A Personal Experience

My parents met for the first time at United Coffee House (CP) and I’ve been hearing stories for years! But even my love for food, couldn’t convince me to make the trip! (read lazy). So I thought I’d go to United Coffee House (Rewind) at Nehru Place.

Decoding The Keto Diet Fad

The latest yo-yo diet is the ketogenic diet (or keto diet, for short), which has picked up steam in the last couple of years, thanks to major influencers like Halle Berry & Kim Kardashian preaching about it.

I’ve wondered, why people are putting grass-fed butter in their coffee, downing ketone drinks, or replacing their cereal and pasta with eggs and avocados. With my close friends and family, either following the diet or counseling others for it, I had to get a better understanding of what a Keto diet is (and does it actually work or not!?).

With this article, I’m sharing my learnings, understandings, and opinions about it. My sources include magazines, research papers, books, and certified dieticians (reference links provided).
