My Favourite Dog Breeds

I LOVE DOGS. There, I said it, in all caps. Now before I share with you a list of my favorite dog breeds, here’s a little something about my own dog, Nuts (may he rest in peace). A pure-bred Lhasa Apso, he was named so, firstly coz imagination was low during those formative years,  and because in less than 24 hours in our home, it was crystal clear, that we were nuts about him and he was nuts about us.

I got to adopt this furry bundle of joy in 1996, after successfully managing to emotionally blackmail (read as begged with folded hands) my dad for years. The poor thing had been in several homes and had severe abandonment issues when we got him. Fortunately, we were meant to have him, coz it took him no time to get ultra-comfy with us! The furball knew just how to manipulate us, into loving him the most and using his characteristic puppy-dog eyes to beg for food and attention! From sulking to heavy petting, from running around the house before baths to acting like a big wet dripping mop across the house afterward, from eating noodles from the table to licking off icecream cartons, from shrill barking to happy excited yelping, we had the most memorable 13 years, before he passed away in 2009. Nutsy, as we fondly called him (imagine a dog named Nuts, to be fondly called Nutsy instead :P) loved his walks and his car rides (even if it meant going to the vet), and pretty much everything we did (and ate). Although my parents still believe he was pampered, let me let you in on a secret, he was downright spoilt! And I take full responsibility!

As much as I miss him, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to take in another of his kind, without being reminded of him. This is why it was only after his demise, that I start looking at other breeds, that I would like to adopt. I really hope, he doesn’t consider this cheating from doggo-heaven, coz this list is exceptionally long!! Not restricted to just pure breeds, some of my favorites are mixed breeds as well, simply coz we can get two in the form of one. How does it get better than that!?

I love dogs. Wait, I think I mentioned that somewhere already. Either way, I’m a dog person, and I connect better with other dog lovers/dog owners (I get along with other people just fine too, just saying  ). So when I told my peeps I was writing a post on dogs, they were more than happy to share pics of their furry companions.
