Cartoons From Yesteryears
I recently wrote an article about my favorite childhood memories from school for Children’s Day; which got me thinking, about how growing up, we had a string of amazing cartoon shows, that we used to watch religiously every day. This of course was the pre-cable era, where we only got two channels, Doordarshan and DD Metro; where the cartoon listings used to appear in the newspaper every day; where we only got a limited 30-60 minute slot to watch TV provided we finished our homework on time… And yet these daily 30-minute cartoon shows were the highlight of our day, and life was awesome back then. With the introduction of cable channels like Nickelodeon, Disney, and Cartoon Network (the 90s version) life only got better! Back then, we only received the episodes of most American shows, after the series had ended there. And yet, we were grateful. Here’s an attempt (and list) to relive a few of those shows. Do let me know which one of these was/is your favorite too!

Back-To-School: A Trip Down Memory Lane
Good memories often make us nostalgic. Some of my best memories were made when I was in school. I was in my alma mater, Fr. Agnel School, for 14 years, and there is still no better place I’d like to return to!
This article is a reminiscence of some of my favorite childhood memories. Now there are so many things I want to talk about here, but I think I’ll restrict myself to the best ones. I’m sure you’ll be able to connect to quite a few of them. Happy Children’s Day!

Ghosting: Trend Vs Morality
Okay, so I’m not talking about an actual ghost, and this article does not (nor any other for that matter) on my blog encourages death, suicide, or other such morbidities. Now that the disclaimer is in place, let’s talk about this recent trend of ‘Ghosting’ what it is, and whether you should or not, and how to deal with it if you’ve been a victim.

Fat Burners: The Burning Truth
When it comes to losing weight, we are always looking for shortcuts. While one could argue that hitting the gym regularly, eating healthy, drinking 8-10 glasses of water, and good 8-hour sleep, are what will help you lose weight in a natural and healthy way; the practicality is often questionable.

Sex Education: The Education We Need And Deserve
Sex Education remains one of the biggest taboos in India. Unfortunately, besides being taboo, it is also highly misunderstood by people. Among others, it is one of the most important topics that is addressed in an incomplete, incompetent, and in most cases, uncomfortable manner by our teachers and parents. In this post, I will try to shed some light on some of the misunderstandings regarding sex education and try to answer some of the frequently answered questions around it.

Rabid Dogs
Rabies is a virus that affects the brain and spinal cord of all mammals, including dogs, cats, and humans. Though preventable, there is a good reason that the word rabies evokes fear in people. The disease has been reported everywhere throughout the world except for Australia and Antarctica. Every year, rabies causes the deaths of more than 50,000 humans and millions of animals worldwide. Once the symptoms appear, the disease often results in a fatality. Although most animals are affected by this disease, this article focuses on rabies in dogs, the symptoms, precautions, and management.

My Favorite Movie Marathons: Part 1
Whether you like to run movie marathons with your friends and family or all by yourself, there are certain classics (series) that deserve this kind of madness. There’s something about diving into the cinematic world and living it together with my favorite characters until the very end. Over the years, I have liked, loved (and hated) various movie series. Here are some of my favorite movie marathons.

Banana: The Golden (Yellow) Fruit
As an instant energy booster, bananas are one of the most consumed fruits across the globe. Although varying in color, size, and shape; bananas contain a fair amount of fiber, as well as several antioxidants. From helping lower blood pressure to reducing the risks of cancer and asthma, bananas are known to have a plethora of health benefits (more on this later). Today, bananas are grown in over 100 countries and are ranked 4th among the world’s food crops in monetary value. Momos: The Perfect Snack
Although Tibetan in origin, momos are by far the most-eaten snacks in Delhi. We are obsessed with momos. In fact, I love momos so much, I could probably write poems on them! These bite-sized wonders are all you need to satiate those odd-hour hunger pangs or random binge eating. From steamed, to fried, tandoori, or baked, with possibly any stuffing you can imagine, there are plenty of places serving these bundles of joy. Here’s a list of some of my favorite places serving momos.
Green Tea: An Acquired Taste
Typically a brewed green tea is either green, yellow, or light brown in color, and its flavor ranges from grass-like and toasted to vegetal, sweet, and seaweed-like. If brewed correctly, most green teas are quite light in color and only mildly astringent.
Animal Shelters: The Need Of The Hour
Animal welfare is just as important as human welfare. Even though animal welfare is yet to become a global phenomenon, it is gaining importance in India at a rapid pace. It’s common to hear heartwarming stories of rescue operations and random acts of kindness. With proper awareness, people are now more involved in helping raise the living standards and status of all animals. Volunteers, NGOs, and organizations alike, are working relentlessly to create a better, happier environment for them. There is a monumental increase in donations being made for the cause.

Probiotics: Do You Actually Need Them? Let’s Understand
We eat. We digest. How properly is the question! Digestive health has been a concern for doctors and patients alike globally. Probiotic bacteria, popularly known as probiotics, are good gut bacteria that help regulate our digestion. Probiotics are found in the digestive tract and aid proper digestion and absorption and boost immunity, unlike disease-causing micro-organisms. Probiotic bacteria release enzymes that help in food digestion. This, in turn, prevents gut-related diseases and complications from antibiotics.

Decoding The Keto Diet Fad
The latest yo-yo diet is the ketogenic diet (or keto diet, for short), which has picked up steam in the last couple of years, thanks to major influencers like Halle Berry & Kim Kardashian preaching about it.
I’ve wondered, why people are putting grass-fed butter in their coffee, downing ketone drinks, or replacing their cereal and pasta with eggs and avocados. With my close friends and family, either following the diet or counseling others for it, I had to get a better understanding of what a Keto diet is (and does it actually work or not!?).
With this article, I’m sharing my learnings, understandings, and opinions about it. My sources include magazines, research papers, books, and certified dieticians (reference links provided).

Menstruation: Myths vs. Facts
Menstruation is a natural biological process that occurs in female-bodied individuals, in which the body sheds the lining of the uterus through the vagina. It is a monthly cycle that typically lasts between three to seven days, and it marks the beginning of a woman's reproductive age. Although menstruation is a normal and essential function of the female reproductive system, it has been stigmatized and tabooed in many cultures around the world, leading to a lack of education, access to menstrual hygiene products, and adequate healthcare for those who menstruate. Therefore, it is essential to promote awareness and understanding of menstruation to break the stigma surrounding it and ensure that every individual has access to the resources they need to manage their menstrual cycles with dignity and respect.

Personal Trainer: Do you really need one?
Exercise is any movement that makes your muscles work and also allows your body to burn calories. Some examples of physical activity are swimming, biking, jogging, and also dancing. We all know how important exercise is in our everyday lives, but we may not understand why or what it can do for us.
It's important to note that we emerged from ancestors who spent their days wandering around in search of food and shelter, sometimes traveling long distances. Our bodies are engineered and developed to be involved on a regular basis.
We are drawn to move very similar to a sports car which is designed to go fast. If the sports car is driven once a week for a 3-mile round trip through a town center, it will almost certainly experience engine problems.
People,
too, develop issues over time if they sit at a desk or in front of the
television all day and get no exercise.
